Volnay Santenots Jean Javillier Vintage 1988 VINTAGE WINES 2010Founded in 1933 and run by his sons since 1980, the domaine has vineyard holdings across the Cote De Beaune including this premier cru which falls under the Volnay appellation. The 1988 vintage was excellent for the Burgundy region. Typical blend, Pinot Noir. 75cl bottle. Abv 12% Bottle condition, capsule good, label good, wine level 3cm below bas of cork.

90% of the vineyard is planted with merlot

the 2018 is unusally open-knit and expressive after brief aeration

The weather was a challenge for the Burgundy growers

The Nose has a ripe

Lots of apricot and honey

but I generally prefer them older

of Huguenot origin

but some good wines were made
