Eruption lineBlack Butte, the core of an extinct volcano in Montana's Gravelly Mountain Range, provides the perfect foreground for this large, mid summer Milky Way shot. I shot this image using more than 40 photos taken at 105mm on a clear, early August night this past summer, and it appears as if our galaxy is erupting from this peak in a display of stars instead of lava.
