It is not evident whether L. Bonnefoy is the artist or sitter. The portrait itself is wonderfully done, full of character and the use of white highlights to the face and cravat in particular give the work a great verve. Housed in a later glazed rosewood frame. The table has a small amount of warping to fold over lid and has some marks commensurate with age (please see photographs) but remains in a very good condition overall
